[閱讀] Emily Dickinson: Volcanoes be in Sicily – (1705) & I dwell in Possibility – (466)

讀詩。Emily Elizabeth Dickinson,一個只寫信而足不出戶的女生。在一共差不多有一千七百多首留下來的詩歌之中,我喜歡這一首:Volcanoes be in Sicily (1705),八音節和六個音節的間隔。另外還有,I dwell in Possibility – (466);“Whatever it i s that’s, that’s extreme.”

Volcanoes be in Sicily – (1705)
BY EMILY DICKINSON 1830-1886

Volcanoes be in Sicily
And South America
I judge from my Geography –
Volcanos nearer here
A Lava step at any time
Am I inclined to climb –
A Crater I may contemplate
Vesuvius at Home.

I dwell in Possibility – (466)
BY EMILY DICKINSON 1830-1886

I dwell in Possibility –
A fairer House than Prose –
More numerous of Windows –
Superior – for Doors –

Of Chambers as the Cedars –
Impregnable of eye –
And for an everlasting Roof
The Gambrels of the Sky –

Of Visitors – the fairest –
For Occupation – This –
The spreading wide my narrow Hands
To gather Paradise –
