2009 年商人 Richard L. Weisman 於 1977 年委託 Andy Warhol 的 “運動員” (Athletes) 系列一度有十幅被偷失蹤。警方稱無硬闖痕跡，屋內其他名貴畫作亦未被帶走。Weisman 當時懸紅 US$1M 籌金希望尋回這十張本身懸掛在飯廳的作品，最終尋回，不過就沒有說明失而復得的過程。
Andy Warhol “運動員” (Athletes) 系列由 Weisman 於 1977 年末出價 US800,000 委託製作，每組十張，共 80 張。Warhol 先以大寶麗萊為運動（當中包括 Muhammad Ali, Chris Evert, Dorothy Hamill, Tom Seaver, Jack Nicklaus and O. J. Simpson）拍攝，每人拍下約莫 60 張即影即有，其後再選定 4 張製作絲網，最終以兩年完工。每張絲網印刷作品為 40 吋正方型，全部均有 Andy Warhol 和運動員的簽名。
Weisman 家族收到後將其中兩組捐到大學，部分送給運動員；自己留有四組。30 年後，即 2007 年曾在倫敦藝廊 Martin Summers Fine Art 開展開賣，整組開價 US$28M 並未賣出。
今年捲土重來，在佳士得 11 月 13 日 Christie’s Postwar and Contemporary Art Evening Sale 開拍這個 “運動員”系列。拳王阿里 (Muhammad Ali) 估價最高，約為 US$4 – US$6，估計最低暫為因殺妻案接受世紀審訊的欖球球星辛普森，約估值 US$250K – US$350K；整個系列預算賣出 US$15M 或以上。
《Silver Car Crash (Double Disaster)》(1963) 是 Andy Warhol 目前最貴拍價作品，2013 年以 US$105.4M 經 Sotheby’s, New York 拍出。
